A bit of a holiday ...

My Olympic achievement
Watching the Olympics on TV is kind of getting in the way of my City and Guilds work as well as housework (what's that?!), but I have been keeping my hands busy while getting square eyed in front of the box.  I've been knitting for "fish'n chip babies" in Africa, who are in need of warm jerseys, since many newborns leave hospital wrapped in newspaper for warmth because they have no clothes.  I've managed to finish two jumpers from an easy pattern available online.  With lots more action to come, I hope to complete a third during my bit of an Olympic holiday, before getting down to work again.

  1. These look gorgeous. I love the colours and I'm sure they'll look just perfect on the babies.

  2. Hi Catherine, I too have been knitting whilst watching the Olympics with my parents in Somerset. My mum knits too and we decided that the more exciting it got the faster we knitted!
I nearly finished that sleeve which has been going for ages but what a joy to have something to pick up and knit when the fancy takes me [although mine not for a worthy cause].

  3. Don't worry Catherine - you're not the only one who is finding it difficult to drag oneself away from the Olympics. I've actually managed to clear my workroom, and am just about to settle down and get some work done. Love the little jumpers!

  5. There must be something in the air - I took some knitting on holiday but misread the pattern and ended up unravelling what I had done. I look on it as exercise for my fingers. Well done on the baby clothes - I picked up a copy of the pattern in a local shop thinking I could use up some odd balls but all my DK seems to be white at the moment which isn't suitable.
